Hello / Labas

Seasons Greetings!

This is my effort to reach you and express my thanks.

In 2001, I was labeled "the leader" and given this hat to wear for the Day. The hat was taken back at the end of the day, but the leadership must have stuck.

We are entering a new era of unexpected results. If it is anything like the last 6 years, it will be amazing.

Help me share Lietuvybe with you and countless more to come.

Consider getting this Blogspot on a regular basis and get a Subscription to our "Member Arcvhive" http://www.thelithuanians.com/page10.html

My Gift to you will be "The Songs of the Season" when on December 1, numerous broadcasts will appear at our Channel 6 at our 'The Lithuanians Website."

This is a timely presentation of one of Lithuania's most famous entertainers. Not only famous but selfless. Our radio broadcast features Virgis Stakenas.

Hear his melodic deep voice. We were almost blessed to have him in our "Studio A," but his travel plans changed. However, we did get an over the phone interview and included it in our broadcast some time ago.

Its a pleasure to promote Virgis as he was one of our earliest Lithuanian entertainers to respond to requests for his music. Hear him on our Channel 6 in the Program Preview.

This album was sent here by him prior to release last Spring.

Thanksgiving Day - Padekos Diena in Lithuanian is symbolised by a Turkey.
Its a day of thanks for the bounty and survival that began in 1621, however
was not considered as "a" Thanksgiving Day observnace, but now is looked
upon as where the tradition began in the United States.

In today's broadcast, memories of my first Thanksgiving are recounted.

The balance of the program continues with song requests - more Lietuvybe

3 Tigrai - Three Tigers, Three Lithuanian entertainers who demonstrate a most powerful style and with a unique range of songs. A pleasure to hear their harmony.

This is a portrayal of events during WWII. It is billed as a truthful documentary. There are many correct representations, however a few generalizations are inaccurate. But, the work has much merit as a documentary and is worth viewing. There are some very enlightening revelations.
Where this work fell short, is in the name. To be correct, this was Vilnius - not the German name of Vilna. It indicates non Lithuanian authorship. In fact it was not about
"Lithuanians."
Also, it labels a people as equal villains along with the Russians and the Germans.
This is incorrect and a complete misrepresentation of fact and history.
The Lithuanian Partisans [Underground Lithuanian Army] fought the Germans as well as the Russians [and Poles]. But this is not about Lithuanian Partisans who fought the Communists into the 1950s.
The tragedy is man's inhumanity to man. The story is about what should never happen again, to anybody. Worth seeing and remembering and worth correcting or including omissions and miss characterizations.
