Even if you do not understand Lithuanian, you will love hearing great music not requiring anyone to understand the words. Or, if you are learning Lithuanian, this will give you a chance to practice listening to words you have learned.

We are back to our original server, still awaiting a transition - upgrade. Our programs will be updated at "The Lithuanians" website and you can resume hearing and seeing new material. There is a brief mention of this in the radio broadcast.

Our new website [raymondbalta] will be used to test new aspects of what we will be doing in the near future. Also, today we are in the process of installing an additional OS [Operating System - LINUX] for possible improvements to our effort. This will be added to our latest machine, "Ateitis" - Future.

There is a test underway at "RaymondBalta.com." an unpublished website link.
You can see this "Sneak Preview" by clicking on the Gero Upo image.

This test is just that, so this experiment may expire. What the outcome may be, is a new format for archiving our projects and ultimately deposited in our "Member Archive" at "The Lithuanians" website.

The transition is still not completed. In the mean time enjoy what we are experimenting with.

I received some inquiries regarding how to support this effort. Please go to "Support" tab at "The Lithuanians" - until there is one set up for our new website - now there will be an additional server.

We launched a new website, raymondbalta.com, on another server to bi pass the current server issue faced by our main website, thelithuanians.com. Please note you can still access The Lithuanians during this transition. All the function are working for access from the Internet. Only impact, is management of the site from the inside.

The Lithuanians Voice and a New Website:Update

Well, the transition - upgrade is still not completed. So as mentioned, another server is a must to host our media.
.
Most of the day was spent getting the early stages written and bringing forward a few pages.

You are invited for a visit to take a look. The Home page is temporary until another is built.
There is the beginning of a "Linking section," and we begin with "Preview of Programs." A section most are familiar with. It is not as large as before.

The Lithuanians Voice Radio Broadcast #543 you may Download - it is Wednesday's program.
There is a podcast added as often as I can.
.
The bad news is that the transition - upgrade will take more time, may be up to a week longer. The good news is we now are using two different servers. There will be a learning curve in developing the new site and some features may take a while to implement. But, the disruption will be minimized with this second option. Again, this will result in some duplication for a while. New software will have to be acquired to make certain media aspects work.

You will still be able to access "The Lithuanians" website. It is just not practical for me to continue uploading with the chance of losing the files and causing the system further delays during the transition - upgrade. Again, I never expected to get into such a dilemma. My apologies.

Getting on with our mission is most of all important.

The Lithuanians Voice: Update on our Transition

Wow! I can't believe that this transition - upgrade for our website is taking so long. I feel bad, because so many of you rely on getting a timely message and our radio and television broadcasts and also some of the specials we come up with from Lithuanian National Television - plus other sources and what we produce.

.

The Lithuanians website is a substantial resource and it contains quite a bit of information about Lithuania. But, most of all it is a media rich depository.

.

Since we are sort of in between, anything we produce now is subject to being lost by the end of transition or a significant effort will be required to restore the information in the new area.

.

The host servers are critical to publishing the huge files we produce - and save for you to experience.

.

Maybe I will try to use the BlogSpot to try a few more projects until we are whole again.

.

If the delay goes past tomorrow, it may be necessary to institute another website until we are restored - upgraded. The site is quite complex, hand built and may not have follow rules set down by standard systems. I just wrote everything by hand, learned as I went along - things evolved - somehow everything fit and worked. Hmm! More progress to learn...

.

This will be a new effort, or a new method of bringing our Lithuanian Language Lessons to the attention of some who seek learning some basic conversational Lithuanian.

This effort is what started all this back in the spring of 2001, seven years ago, with a short audio clip.
