Questions keep coming in about Lithuanian First Names.
An intensive project was completed a few years ago and I posted it on our website "The Lithuanians.com" -
.
You can see the compilation of over 3,600 Lithuanian first names at the NAMES tab:
http://www.thelithuanians.com/page5.html
.
Read the Overview - Introduction. You will get some informative information to help you with Lithuanian First Names:
- If you seek a name for your baby
- If you are doing some genealogy research
- If you are looking for a correct spelling
- If you want to verify a Lithuanian First Name
- If you seek the etymology of a first name, some more popular first names have been researched.
A word of caution, some Lithuanian First Names may not be listed. Those listed are accepted first names in use. But, there are more, not so common and not listed.
There are some of Lithuanian descent, or actual Lithuanians that have a first name that is not Lithuanian. Paul, Joseph, Raymond are first names but they are not Lithuanian. Paulius, Juozapas, Raimundas are Lithuanian First Names.
Because of movement of Lithuanians to other parts of the world, names were adopted or changed to names used in their new country of residence. However, some Lithuanians retained the given name, especially those that have emigrated since 1991. It is common now a days for Lithuanians going abroad to keep their "Birth" name.
So a distinction has to be made as to ethnicity. And, very important, no Lithuanian First Names start with a "W." Why? See the Lithuanian alphabet at our website - the Green tab near the bottom.
So, the website, The Lithuanians.com, is equipped to answer many of your question. There are many different section of the website with answers. You can use the Internal Search Engine to help you find an answer. You may even find some answers in our LIBRARY tab.
So, Happy hunting, whatever your interest may be. The website is growing to assist you in many ways, including Media: Radio Broadcast, TV, Video and much more
