I hope you had an interesting experience this past weekend observing the 90Th Anniversary of the reestablishment of the Lithuanian State - February 16, 1918.
You may not have understood their dialog, but the feeling, emotion and pride should have come through.
.
In one of the panel discussions, in Lithuanian, many thoughts were expressed.
.
My immediate notion that came to mind was to grab my dictionary and translate a few words I had difficulty with. So, the importance of learning Lithuanian.
.
The thing I did remember, and that stood out, was the discussion about "Lyderis" - Leader.
The point was made that in order for things to happen a leader has to be in the forefront, one that is capable and one that people follow. A leader of this caliber come along at rare times in history. Leaders that change the world are a rarity, especially great leaders.
.
Well, Lithuania has such leaders, like Mindaugas, Lithuania's first and only king and Vytautas The Great, the Grand Duke of the GDL, Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
.
It is these Lithuanian leaders and a few other Grand Dukes that made a significant impact on the European Continent that few know about.
.
The importance of what happened should be studied, as should the culture and the Lithuanian language.
If you want to know about your forefathers, learn about Lithuania.
.
I hope that this effort is bringing you a little closer to filling your search and that burning inside.
