As a "Living Language" - you may be interested to know that Lithuanian is as Modern as it is Old.
It has outlived many languages that have died and a few that have been revived.
The Lithuanians in more recent times stubbornly [with pride] refused to allow foreigners to "kill" the language and the culture. During periods of foreign influence when it became illegal to use the language, Lithuanians taught their children secretly at home and in secret schools. This is how Lithuanians survived the thousands of years of heritage.
This is how the Lithuanian language survived to this day.
